Delta state government would establish a state-of-the-art sport academy in the state, says Chief Tonobok Okowa.
This was disclosed by Chief Tonobok Okowa, Executive chairman, Delta State Sports Commission while defending the 2021 budget estimate of the Commission he noted that the sports academy will go a long way in building talents in various sporting activities.
He said that the 2021 budget was targeted among other things at maintaining and developing the various stadia in the state.
Chief Okowa disclosed that arrangements were on for the hosting of a Council of Sport meeting in the state.
The Executive chairman of the Commission also disclosed that a post Covid-19 athletics competition would be hosted at the Stephen Keshi Stadium which according to him would be the first major sporting event in the county after the forced break in sports following the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic.
