The Court of Appeal, Benin has just affirmed the clear truth that in Delta State, God’s own prophet is Delta APC Chairman. He is Prophet Jones Ode Erue. We give all the glory to God Almighty.
By the court’s decision, candidates nominated by Delta APC for the 2019 elections are untainted. The nominations are entirely lawful. Successful Delta APC candidates who are yet to receive Certificates of Return from INEC will now be issued with their certificates forthwith.
Opponents who raised this issue as a rod of offense against Delta APC and its candidates in virtually all the election petitions in Delta State are probably the biggest losers today.
I take the humble view that we should not gloat as winners. Delta APC must seize this moment to search its soul for a proper reconciliation. At one point or the other, we were one and trusted each other.
The truth is, Chief (Dr) Cyril Ogodo and all who lost in court today and all who are with him, including Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, ought not to be our enemies at all.
We are where we are today because of unhealthy, brutal and even deadly struggle for political power through the control of the soul of APC in Delta. This is not entirely unnatural, but some took it to an unbelievable level of hateful conspiracies mixed with pure evil against their own brothers.
Indeed, how does one justify the bitter desire to use this matter to viciously target, derail and finally scatter the choice of the South-South APC to have our own Ranking Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the next Deputy Senate President (DSP)? What is the gain in using the case to stop successful APC candidates from being sworn-in to serve their constituents who labored for their victories?
Why use the case to derail good election petitions filed by APC’s candidates, particularly the governorship petition by Chief Great Ogboru? Why??? But then, we can still and should forgive ourselves.
It’s time to genuinely heal the festering wounds in the Delta APC. A ‘no victor; no vanquished’ approach is needed.
Although our case and legal arguments were iron-cast and by far better than the other side, let’s be humble enough to admit that today’s victory is a product of divine intervention. God’s grace, mercy and power made the difference. They present us with another opportunity to heal ourselves.
Let’s forgive one another and make progress. There is surely so much good we can do for our people if we remove hateful and bitter divisiveness from our ranks. Unity with good minds is strength.
God bless us all.
