ANTI OPEN GRAZING BILL PASS SECOND READING

A Bill seeking to prohibit open grazing of cattle in Delta State was read for the second time on the floor of the State House of Assembly following its first reading yesterday, 13/07/2021.

The private member Bill is for a law to regulate livestock open grazing, rearing and marketing, and also to prohibit open grazing and other matters connected thereto.

Lead sponsor of the Bill, Comrade Izeze R. Y. Reuben who is the Member Representing Ughelli South State Constituency, moved the motion for the Second reading which was seconded by the Member Representing Aniocha North, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi.

Members who spoke in support of the Anti Open Grazing Bill are Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri, Hon. Oboro Preyor, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, amongst others and it was unanimously taken.

It was thereafter committed to Committee on Agriculture and Special Committee on Bill by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and for the Committees to report back to the House on 27/07/2021.
