The Vigilante Chairman in Ethiop-East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Sunny Akpobi has said there is need for the state governor, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to assist the local security to enable them carry out full security operations in the area.
Vigilante Chairman made this assertion in an interview with newsmen after the group through the assistance of some army personnel killed four robbers terrorizing Community in a gun battle recently.
Akpob while noting that Oviorie needs support said that he will be very happy if the needed government support comes their way, because they cannot do it all on their own.
He said, “We need the government backing, we support ourselves from personal income, we need funds to acquire arms and ammunition, Hilux or bus, we also need stipends to take care of our immediate needs too.”
The Vigilante boss stated that “only God is protecting us, many times we are in battlefield with empty hand, we cannot do much, the government is supposed to know that there are some persons working day and night securing innocent citizens in Oviorie.
He therefore urge the government to come to their rescue and also advice parents to advice their children to stop criminality and shun the abuse of hard drugs as the Yuletide season draw closer.
