The Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has opened churches and Mosques across the state but with restriction.
Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Madukwe who made this known in a statement after the governor’s meeting with religious leaders on Thursday, said opening of churches and mosques worship was granted and effective from 3rd May, 2020
He said duration of service must not exceed 2 hours, while days of service per week are Sundays and Wednesdays.
According to the statement, number of worshippers in churches per service in a 100 man capacity hall will be 20 worshippers; 200 Capacity hall, 50 worshippers; while 500 capacity and above hall, 100 worshippers maximum.
On their part, Muslim leaders who spoke after the meeting told journalists that they have been allowed to worship but must not be more than 50 worshippers per mosque.
Both Christian and Muslim leaders confirmed the governor advised that hand washing, use of sanitizers and social distance of 6 feet between seats, use of nose mask by all worshippers must be observed.
Meanwhile, Delta state has recorded its eighth case of coronavirus, after partially relaxing the ban on movement in the state
The eighth case was disclosed by SSA Media to the governor, Mr. Nelson Agware on his official Facebook account.
