The Chairman of Sapele/Okpe Land Trust, one time senatorial candidate in Delta State, Chief Ede Dafinone, a chartered accountant, has called on members of the All Progress Congress (APC) in Sapele LGA of Delta State to discard the pull him down syndrome against the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege by supporting him to get more results for his people and Nigeria in particular.
Chief Dafinone, and APC chieftain in Delta State, who hosted some of the All Progressive Congress executives, the factions recognized by the party’s hierarchy at Abuja recently in his country home in Sapele, stated that for many years, Urhobos never had it so good by producing a leader at the top.
“Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege holds an exclusive position in this country, and there are some people who feel he ought not to be there.
When you pull him down, who will stand for the Urhobo, and you that is pulling him down can you take his place? Anyone who wants to pull down our son should be ready to hear from us.
It is with the influence of the Urhobos that we put him there.
We didn’t have anyone there, they are complaining now that we have him there, they are planning to pull him down, leave our man there to do his job” he said.
Speaking further, he said now that God has made it possible for us as the 5th largest ethnic nationality in Nigeria, we should support Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
“Think about the several persons that have benefitted from him through empowerment and job placements. Who else can do this in Urhobo land”?
He then lamented fictionalization of the party and appealed to the member to allow the people to register and vote for any candidate of their choice instead of imposing leaders on the people, adding that, the meeting was a party building mission which was aimed at bringing the party together.
Dafinone also revealed that he has concluded arrangements to invite other groups of the party for the same purpose of bringing them together as one strong family, adding that all of them are one body whose honest intentions is to win election in the state and at the national level.”
At this moment I have no intention to contest any position in the 2023 elections, but I want to ensure that the party do not make any further mistakes in subsequent elections but if peradventure my people prevailed on me to contest, in must be backed up with strong belief” he added.
Chief Bojor Adelabu, the Delta Central chairman of the party while addressing journalist said, “As a leader of the party in Delta Central, in have always looked at a stronger party that will win elections, as at this hour, Chief Ede Dafinone calling this meeting to sensitize the people of Sapele, hitting on the issue of unity and ownership of the party, for me, it is a very wonderful day.
I am glad, I am happy that he has come out to vent his anger on the issue of disunity that has set back this party over the years.”
Adelabu added that “ahead of the 2023 general elections, the preaching has started, there in no more stopping the tide from flowing. In unity we stand.
We will continue to preach, because there is already self realisation amongst the leaders of the party. The key word here is unity. And we are getting it right this time around”.
