Delta 2023: The recent attack on the character and person of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, DSP of the Nigerian Senate by Dr Cairo Ojuogbo and his co-travelers is one misguided voyage of shame that has lend credence to the rising political profile of the Urhobo-born Omo-Agege as a national icon and indisputable leader of the APC in the south-south region.
Dr Cairoh Ojuogboh, the failed Executive Director of Project of the NDDC is at the head of the fight to discredit the shining and dazzling light of Urhobo political consciousness in the present dispensation.
In 2019, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was voted by Urhobo people to represent Delta Central in the upper legislative chamber in Nigeria. He later got the mandate of his colleagues, backed by the powers that be, to emerge Deputy President of the Senate, a position, 16 years of PDP leadership in Nigeria could not give any of our sons despite slaving for the northern powers and an Ijaw brother for many years.
The ‘Methuselah’ of the Senate, Senator James Manager who would be completing 20 years in the senate by 2023 couldn’t attain such height even with his Ijaw brother, Goodluck Jonathan as President of Nigeria for 6 years.
If in just 4 years, Omo-Agege could rise to such a dizzy height to position Urhobo in the seat of power and assume the rank of the fifth highest political office holder in Nigeria, it behooves on every Urhobo son and daughter, irrespective of political party persuasion to defend Ovie Omo-Agege in every situation and circumstances if we must grow as a nation.
Ovie Omo-Agege is not an ordinary senator. He is the senator of senators. That is the highest any Urhobo man has attained politically in all our years in a democracy. Therefore, any attack on Ovie Omo-Agege is attack on Urhobo.
Any Urhobo man who fails to see it from that perspective is an enemy of Urhobo. It does not matter what wrong Omo-Agege had done against you in the past. Even Senator Ighoyota Amori, from whom the Delta Central senatorial seat was wrestled, is at peace with Ovie Omo-Agege. So, for the sake of Urhobo honour, interest and progress, every Urhobo man and woman is duty-bound to defend Omo-Agege in the best interest of Urhobo.
To this end, whatever primitive politics the various APC tendencies may be playing, Dr Cairoh Ojougboh has touched the lion tail by hurling such primitive and acerbic invectives on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over some petty internal squabbles to control the structure of the APC in Delta State.
Urhobo has a proverb that a good man must learn to appreciate another man who is greater than him. Cairoh Ojuogbo is so incensed with the supersonic rise of Ovie Omo-Agege that jealousy and primitive envy is driving him crazy to open the septic hole in front of his face called mouth to vomit those shit against our Urhobo superstar.
Let all Urhobo people understand the fact that except one is a witch or a wizard, Omo-Agege has risen beyond political party ownership among Urhobo people. He is Urhobo voice in the senate, the highest law making chamber in Nigeria. He is not just a lawmaker but was elected from amongst 109 senators all over Nigeria to be the second in command in the law making business in Nigeria. In just a matter of 2 years, he brought a Federal Polytechnic to Urhoboland, what the Methuselahs and ancestors of the Senate could not do in 20 years. Any Urhobo man who fails to appreciate Omo-Agege, such a person should be cursed by the spirit of Mukoro Mowoe.
This has nothing to do with political party. Omo-Agege has done for Urhobo in two years, what all the senators in Delta State could not do since creation. The honour alone that an Urhobo son, once in a while, also presides over lawmaking business in Nigeria is in itself, a lifetime achievement. Urhobo is now better reflected in the consciousness of Nigerian leaders.
Therefore, I wish to support in its entirety, the response of Mr. Kenneth Yugbovwre to the attack on Omo-Agege by the inconsequential Cairoh Ojuogboh, titled: Dr Cairoh Ojougboh and the ranting of an ant.
Yugbovwre, in his response described Ojougboh as one possessed of some demons which are troubling him to fail to identify boundaries. ‘’After a studious perusal of the unprovoked, very childish and acerbic outburst from the embittered soul of Dr Cairo Ojougboh against Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, I am forced to aver that Dr Ojougboh is still possessed by the millions of demons that plagued him during his youthful days as an undergraduate in UNIBEN.
Cairo should stop indulging in substance abuse.
‘’Anyway, those who are acquainted with him, know that Dr Ojougboh is a Looney, and an unstable character, with a vile penchant for shaking tables to foster his selfish nest, unfortunately, he has bitten more than he can chew this time around.
The mad Doctor, as he is fondly called in Agbor cannot beguile Deltans, with his nonsensical mudslinging and smear campaign against Senator Ovie Omo Agege, the deputy president of the senate. The pedigree, political antecedents, scintillating representation and delivery of dividends of democracy to Deltans are accomplishments upstarts like Dr Ojougboh can never attain in a zillion lifetimes.
‘’Every discerning soul knows that Dr Cairo Ojougboh’s opposition and yarning of ‘opata’ against the deputy president of the senate is not based on altruism. The demons of hate, jealousy, and a lust for pecuniary gains are the factors goading Dr Ojougboh to embark on this macabre dance of the shameless.
Dr Cairo Ojougboh is an infinitesimal dot that can never be a threat to the political trajectory of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, all these ignoble rants from him are nothing but a facade concocted to hide his displeasure over the emergent collabo between Senator Ovie Omo Agege and Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, which has effectively put paid to the delusionary ambition of Dr Ojougboh to contest the Delta North senatorial seat in 2023 under the APC’’, Yugbovwre said, accusing Cairoh Ojuogboh of anti-party activities against the APC in favour of the PDP.
‘’Nonetheless, every action attracts consequences, hence, the malevolent ranting of Dr Cairo Ojougboh must not be treated with levity or laxity, the comeuppance stipulated for such anti party shenanigans must be duly applied. Dr Cairo Ojougboh is a ‘dot in a circle’, apology to Mr President, he is an infant terrible who must be appropriately sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to other moles and fifth columnist. Senator Ovie Omo Agege and Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is an unstoppable train ordained by providence to unshackle Delta state from 21 years of mis-governance. Senator Ovie Omo Agege is coming’’.
I agree with Yugbovwre that Omo-Agege is coming. His coming is what is driving some elements within the APC in Delta State into frenzy. To continue to call Omo-Agege names when the man has not uttered a word concerning his ambition for 2023 is enough evidence to prove that he is indeed a force to reckon with in the coming years.
Whatever trauma the APC is facing in Delta State and beyond are evidence of the potency of the inherent forces capable of changing the status quo. The kind of trouble in APC and PDP is not there in some other unknown and infinitesimal political parties in Nigeria.
The internal conundrum is only a pointer to the value placed on the party and labour pain that would herald the coming glory. Let all know this fact: Ovie Omo-Agege is an Urhobo project. Ovie Omo-Agege is coming. Yes, let him come!
