Delta State will on Friday, 27th August 2021 clock 30. Created on August 27, 1991, out of the defunct Bendel State, The State has recorded some landmark achievements in the thirty years of it’s existence.
The State is generally regarded as a miniature Nigeria, as it is a multi-ethnic state with major towns.
Delta State was carved out of the former Bendel State on August 27, 1991 by the then military Head of State, Retired General Ibrahim Babangida, with Asaba as it’s capital.
The State was Governed by six military Administrators and four civilians, since it’s creation.
Olorogun Felix Ibru was the first Civilian Governor of Delta State sworn in January 1992 but his Administration was truncated in November 1993 by the military.
Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is the present Governor of Delta State, and he is presently doing his second term.
