The new Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Mohammed Ari Ali has assured the people of the state of maximum protection of lives and property, while soliciting constant dissemination for credible information to enable the police serve them better.
While emphasizing the need to curb crime in the state, the commissioner of police, Mohammed Ari Ali said that residents have crucial role to play in the effort to provide genuine information to security agencies adding that security is the responsibility of everyone.
Ari Ali, who made this known during his familiarization tour to Sapele police station during the week, said cooperation of all stakeholders was needed to maintain the peace in the state and get rid of criminals.
The commissioner said he would work effectively to implement the state’s security master plan and would work with stakeholders to ensure better policing.
Ari Ali said, “Gone are those days that security of the community is only the police duty, but the in thing globally is community policing, and what that means is that all of you out there are part of the people to keep this community safe if we must get it right.
“I want to tell all of us that the police are no magicians, neither are they spirits, we are all partners in progress, the police will not know what is happening in every nook and crannies of this area, it is you that belongs to this community, operating from various angles or areas that have responsibilities of alerting the police of any crime or any sinister group or persons committing an offense, of trying to commit an offence, you have right as individual to arrest and of course leave the police to investigate and persecute,” adding that a relationship must be built between the police and residents Mohammed speaks further.
Mohammed Ari Ali warned criminals to look for other business to do as he and his men would make the state uncomfortable for them.
He also urged residents to be law abiding, and advised them to Shum acts that could compromise the security of the state.
