Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had on Tuesday last week forwarded the name of Mr Morris Ochuko Idiovwa to the Delta State House of Assembly for confirmation as the Director General, for the newly created Delta State Local Content Agençy in line with section 10, sub section 1 of the law establishing the Agençy Law.
Appearing before the Delta State House of Assembly plenary, the nominee who hails from Ughelli North local government area reeled out plans for the agency if his appointment was confirmed by the Lawmakers.
Mr Idiovwa highlighted ways to address issues between oil companies and host communities with a view to addressing and preventing crises.
The appointment was confirmed following a motion by the Majority Leader, Tim Owhefere and adopted.
In a related development, the Delta State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Members of the Civil Service Commission, whose names were forwarded to the house last week.
They include Chief Roseline Amioku, first member, Comrade Olumami Oyibo, second member, Mr. Akpufuoma Penu, third member and Mr. Michael Oputa, fourth member.
Chief Nkem Okwuofu who was nominated for the position of Chairman of the Commission was unavoidably absent as she was said to have travelled out of town on official assignment.
Meantime, the Delta State Highly Infectious Diseases; Emergency, Prevention and Management Bill 2020 sponsored by the member representing Aniocha North Local Government Area was read for the first time at plenary.
The second reading has been scheduled for 1st December 2020.
