Honorable Solomon Edojah former member of the Federal House of Representatives has disagreed with Senator Ovei Omo-Agege, Deputy Senator President on the creation of Urhobo State, where Senator Ovie Omo-Agege told UPU leaders who visited him in Abuja to lobby people of other regions to make, the dream possible.
Speaking with newsmen in Kokori, Ethiope East local government area, Edojah faulted Omo-Agege statement, according to him, Omo-Agege is to do the lobby by lobbying his colleagues in the national assembly since he is representing Delta Central Senatorial districts which is purely Urhobos and not the reverse, explaining that, if Urhobo as a people have challenges it is the duty of the Senator to rise up to the occasion.
He said Urhobo is fortunate to have Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee and as such he should do the needful in order to write his name in gold and not like what Chief Justice Ayo Irikefe did in 1974 when he had the opportunity to create a separate State for Urhobos when he was chairman of state creation yet he did not do it.
“He is fortunate to be the Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee. So, he should not direct us to go and lobby others to create Urhobo state for us.
He should be the one to do the lobby by getting others to do the bidding of Urhobo people, and by lobbing other members to ensure creation of Urhobo State is a reality, so that his name will be written in gold, outside that he will be a failure. He must champion it and bring us result and not excuses”.
Edojah also debunked the notion that APC is not stable, assuring that, the party will be stronger in 2023 since having produced the Deputy Senate President others will follow come 2023.
He assured that the party is going to capture more positions in future elections and that is why members are meeting to strengthen the fortune of the party in Delta State for future elections he concluded.
