The Oduosa of Umusadege Kingdom, HRH, Isaac Obi has charged the youths of Ndokwa West to embrace their culture, saying it is their only identity as a people.
The Oduosa stated this yesterday in his palace at Kwale during the community’s celebration of the new yam festival.
He said that a situation where our cultural values were neglected and demonized by most Nigerian pastors was unfortunate.
The Oduosa said that as a custodian of his people, he was going to organize an enlightenment campaign on the gain of keeping cultural values which he said had created sources of livelihood in tourism business if properly managed.
He lamented that the turnout was low but thank God Almighty for the successful celebration.
The new yam festival is celebrated every year to appreciate God Almighty for good harvest and protection.
Activities lined up was wrestling, football and cooking competitions.
Every quarter of Umusadege is to cook and bring it to the Isuyor ground where the ceremony is taking place.
The best cook is given the sum of
N100,000 while any quarter which fails to participate in the cooking competition will pay a fine of N200,000.
All the varieties of food will be served to invited guests and viewers present at the occasion.
