Everton has this morning released a statement confirming the have suspension of one of their players due to an ongoing police investigation.
“The club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time,” Everton added in a statement on its website.
The Toffees have not yet disclosed either the Premier League player’s name, nor the offence he is being investigated for at present.

The player cannot yet been identified for legal reasons due to the ongoing investigation.
The allegations come as a huge blow to Everton ahead of the new season.
Rafa Benitez and his FC squad returned to Finch Farm for pre-season earlier training this month after the Spaniard replaced Carlo Ancelotti as head coach at Goodison Park, despite fan unrest.
