Jose Mourinho Could Still Face SACK

Jose Mourinho Could Still Face SACKJose Mourinho is under pressure after a series of poor results and a public bust-up with Paul Pogba.

Manchester United came from 2-0 down to beat Newcastle 3-2 on Saturday thanks to goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez.

But the Independent claim Jose Mourinho could still be sacked with a meeting scheduled this week.

The Portuguese is set to sit down with Old Trafford officials to talk about his future at the club.

Jose Mourinho is known to be upset with the board over a lack of transfer spending in the summer.

And that was made clear when Eric Bailly was taken off early in the first half against Newcastle.

In fact Pogba ended up playing as a centre-back after a tactical switch at half-time which inspired United to victory.

Manchester United officials are said to support Mourinho but are concerned about how far Manchester City and Liverpool are ahead of the club.

The pair sit seven points clear of the Red Devils after just eight matches.

And United striker Romelu Lukaku is keen for the win against Newcastle to be a turning point.

“I can go to Belgium with a cool feeling [after winning],” he said.

“But at the end of the day, we are not where I want us [Manchester United] to be, so I’m going to go to Belgium, hopefully do well for my country, but knowing that I have two important games for my team coming back.

“I’m a really bad loser, so coming into the game [against Newcastle], I really was anxious, because I wanted to win.

”Thank God we won the game today and now the important thing with the international break is that nobody gets injured.

“When we come back, we have two important games where, if we have good results, we can move forward.“

Manchester United return to action after the international break against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
