The Coalition of the APC Support Groups (CASG) under the umbrella body of all the registered party support groups within the APC at the national secretariat of the party has petitioned the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over illegal imposition of a candidate in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State in the inconclusive APC primaries.
A press statement issued by the national publicity secretary, Hon. Sampson Oburu on behalf of Hon. Frank Ossai who is the national co-coordinator of the Niger Delta Development Forum (NDDF) and the national vice chairman S-South of the Coalition for APC Support Groups (CASG) noted that Ossai was an aspirant in the inconclusive APC primary election held on December 30, 2020.
The statement note that Ossia contested for the position of the APC flag bearer in Ughelli North LGA adding that: “It has come to our notice that while the collation for results was going on, Ossai was leading based on the results returned by the various ward retuning officers of over 75% in the LGA before the internal democratic process was hurriedly declared inconclusive
“The CASG now observed that while the exercise was declared inconclusive but the other contestant who was in second position was taking to Asaba, the Delta State capital and the ticket was handed over to her in a clear case of manipulation of results the next day.
“Oburu on behalf of the coalition hereby called on the national chairman to please speedily look into this petition of electoral manipulation and hijack of a peaceful internal democratic process.
According to the statement:” Frank polled 5,512 which is the highest vote as the choice of the people while Ese polled 3,106.
As such, we know that our great (APC) party promised change. Therefore, we should be seen to be transparent in our internal democratic processes to help in rebuilding the confidence of members across board and Nigerians.”
Ossia is seasoned grassroots politician in APC who has contested twice for the Delta State Hose of Assembly. He also contested for the position of the national deputy secretary of the APC at the last national convention in 2018 Oburu added: “The coalition of the APC Support Groups is poised to mobilize and support the ethos and manifesto of our great parry by encouraging a level playing field at the levels of internal democratic processes.
We remain loyal to the goals and objectives of the party and His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni, the chairman of our APC party to use his office to rectify the imposition of the candidate in Ughelli North LGA.”
