One of the backbones of the opposition in Uvwie local government area, Chief Herbert Majemite has stated that he is not only tired of been in the opposition but tired of continuous cold war with his brothers and sisters in Uvwie.
Chief Majemite made this clarification during his formal defection with his supporters from the All Progressive Congress APC, to the People’s Democratic Party PDP at the party secretariat in Effurun.
Chief Majimite said he has been in the opposition since 1996 where he contested under zero party platform as Councilor for Ward 7, under former Okpe local government area which comprised the present Udu, Uvwie and Okpe LGA and contested the chairmanship position of Uvwie LGA two times.
Majemite was the APC candidate for Delta State House of Assembly Uvwie State constituency in the 2019 general elections who slugged it out with Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata of the PDP.
“I’m tired of been in the opposition. For more than 20 years I have been in the opposition, it is not easy. If they have to tell you the truth, I’m the sole financier of the oppositions so when my chairman called me, I told him I have made up my mind.
My dear brothers and sisters please find a place in your heart to forgive me I’m tired of fighting you” Chief Majimite explained in and emotional tone.
“I have come to join you, there is no going back.”
Chief Kingsley Esiso, Chairman of the PDP Delta State described Chief Majemite as a strong politician and a man of few words.
Welcoming Majemite and his supporters he asked him to see himself as equal member with others and to bring his wealth of political experience and work with other leaders of the party to deliver the party in all elections in Uvwie local government area.
Mr Efe Okoledo the Uvwie LGA Chairman of the party while describing Chief Majemite as a Big Fish expressed gratitude to Mr. Anthony Ofogba for making the defection of is boss possible.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of PDP membership card and decorated him with party uniform and cap by the state chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso.
In an interview, Hon. Efe Ofobruku, former Delta State House of Assembly member who was once in the opposition expressed gratitude to God for making it possible; adding that, the defection of Chief Majemite to People Democratic Party has been long overdue and called on others if any in Uvwie to join PDP.
The occasion was graced by Hon. Evlelyn Oboro, Hon. Solomom Ighrakpata, Mr. Birght Ighedo, Hon. Random Onoyake, chairman of Uvwie among others.
