First, it is important as an activist to speak against police and SARS brutalities, oppressions, victimizations and illegalities in our society, which the Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa have been striving hard to nip on the bud. Due to the credibility of my person and those who impose high beliefs in my position, I which to state the fact as gathered by our team of activist.
Incident has to do with a unit of the Police force Operation Safe Delta 009/011 stationed patrol in Ughelli and environs not the Unit of SARS as being alleged.
SARS has nothing to do with the incident. I have gathered information from eye witnesses, the friend of the victim, the vigilantes on bike that was at the scene, the police and the victim himself.
By God’s grace, the victim is in a stable condition and we were in an undisclosed hospital this morning to see him to inquire the fact. He was never shot by men of Operation Safe Delta. Our investigations reveals the truth as follows:
The police were on a routine patrol at Ughelli where a woman was kidnapped and her children abandoned last week close to Wetland hotel.
The victim came out of the hotel and was heading towards Otovwodo when they cited the police and engaged reverse on speed not knowing another police vehicle was behind.
They were intercepted and were made to enter into the vehicle of the police where the crowd was already mounting.
They had held the two of them and were making their way out of the crowd when Joshua fell out of the moving police vehicle and instead of the police to stop and rescue the victim, they zoomed off for fear of being mop.
I wish to first of all condemn the actions of the police who failed to rescue the victim and urge the police authorities to take full responsibility of the hospital bill of the victim to daze down tension.
According to Mr. Ochuko, the victim’s uncle we met at the hospital, the Minister Festus Keyamo has called them to assure them of the relevant support and an indebt investigation into the matter in question.
The police authority in Delta state should unravel the fact and proper investigations be launch to safeguard the citizens from harassment.
However, I wish to urge youths in Delta state never to be afraid of police as they are paid with tax payers money to protect us and should they extort any money from you, the police authority is ever ready to help you recover your monies and discipline the erring officer.
