Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital is hosting the 2018 Peoples Democratic Party PDP National Convention where delegates are expected to vote for presidential aspirants of their choice and at the end, a winner shall emerge as candidate to fly the party’s flag in 2019.
Chairman, PDP National Convention Central Working Committee, His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, told news men earlier in Port Harcourt that the convention venue and all other logistics have been perfected to ensure a free, fair and transparent exercise and further assured aspirants of a level playing field.
In a similar development, host governor of the PDP National convention, His Excellency Barrister Wysom Wike said Port Harcourt and indeed Rivers State is peaceful and shall remain peaceful as adequate security has been put in place before, during and after the convention, adding that delegates, party faithfuls and residents should go about their normal legitimate businesses and at the same time feel free to visit places of interest within the city or any part of the state without fear of molestation or intimidation.
Aspirants and their team are on ground here in Port Harcourt, engaging in last minutes votes canvassing and electioneering re-allignments.
It is hoped that the best and most suitable aspirant will emerge as PDP presidential flag bearer to unseat President Muhammadu BUHARI in 2019.
