The member representing Sapele Constituency at the DTHA while touring round the LGA has appealed to residents of Sapele, particularly those around MacPherson, Cementary and Okpe roads to desist from act of disposing solid waste and sewage into public drainage in order to avert the menace of blockages of drains and canals whose resultant effect is flooding and unplanned rendering of families homeless during heavy down pours.
“As the rains are here, we should not be seen engaging in activities that will Sapele residents should not increase the cost of running the government.
In the past months, the Sapele Council Chair has done so well in clearing the drainage, it will be unhealthy and unwise to seek the drainage again as the most convenient place to dispose our house waste anytime we have the rains”.
Chief F.U Anirah also used the medium to send special appeal to tailors, food vendors, and residents of the Sapele urban area to please adopt the use of proper waste disposing outlets made available by the local government.
Council environmental efforts and provisions rather than engaging the drainage and causing unnecessary flooding capable of rendering families homeless during this raining season.
“We should by now be thinking of recycling which is an eminent business and solution to the present-day waste disposition in Nigeria, he added”.
He also tasked Sapele residents to emulate Lagos state in their basic waste disposal pattern to create an environment friendly and healthy place for all of us to live in while he also stated the state government’s continuous effort under the Administration of Governor Okowa to ensuring an environmentally stable and suitable place for all Deltans
