TRIBUTE TO HRM OGONI-OHORO 1; FARE THEE WELL PAPA – HON FRANCIS WAIVE
|
HON FRANCIS WAIVE: The Olomu Traditional Council has announced the transition to eternal glory of His Royal Majesty Ovie Richard Layegun Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro 1. Recognized as the world’s oldest monarch until his passage, His Majesty was a Rev Canon of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
Please forgive my usage of the personal term Papa in this Tribute for that was how I called him and he called me son. Long before I knew I will ever get into politics Papa had a habit of visiting our church: The Church of the Anointing regularly especially when we had special occasions maybe because of my radio ministry MOMENT OF THE ANOINTING.
When I first told him I was going into politics he was silent for a long time before asking me several questions. When convinced, he prayed for me. We were alone. As the race for second tenure began, papa called me to ask why he hadn’t heard from me. He was concerned. He prayed for me and told me I will succeed despite all odds. That was my last communication with him. His demise is a personal loss to me. But I, Hon Francis Waive know I will see him again on the resurrection morning when the saints gather.
His Royal Majesty lived a good long life in good health and with a good name. His pronouncements had the ambiance of one in touch with the divine. May God Almighty bless us with more of such men.
My condolences goes to his immediate family, Olomu Kingdom, the Urhobo nation and indeed all people of goodwill.
Signed
Rt Hon (Rev) Francis Ejiroghene Waive (MHR)
Honorable member representing the entire people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, House of Representatives Abuja.
