Warri North human rights Protection Crusaders has called on the Delta State Government to wailed on the Delta State Police Command to carry out full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of Mr Progress Madamedon in Warri.
The Warri North human rights Protection Crusaders Report says that Mr Progress Madamedon, a Mass Communication graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, was yet to serve the compulsory one-year youth service due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak before his life was cut short on the 22nd of January, 2021 in what looked like a ritual exercise.
A statement issued in Warri by a spokesman of the Warri North Human Rights Protection Crusaders, Mr Kingsley Mebitaghan-Poko, claimed that the twenty-eight-year-old Progress Madamedon was picked from Ajamimogha area of Warri by his friend, in the pretext that they were going for a party at Shoprite in Effurun Roundabout.
The statement further said that the lifeless body of the victim with a dip cut on his throat was later discovered in the same friend’s car which was involved in an accident close to the Ekpan-Ubeji Junction of the Effurun-NPA Expressway.
According to the statement, Police from Ekpan Police Station were invited to the scene of the accident and the suspect was arrested and is presently in their custody while the body of the victim was taken to the Central Hospital, Warri Mortuary.
The statement explained that the Warri North human rights Group has been briefed by the family of the slain man who are now worried about the delay of the Police in transferring such a high criminal case to the Police Headquarters in Asaba.
They expressed the fear that the delay in handling the case may be an indication that justice may not be done.
The Warri North human rights group therefore appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to personally intervene by prevailing on the State Police Commissioner to order the immediate transfer of the case to the State Police Headquarters for proper investigation.
