Delta State Government awards a major contract for dual carriageway reconstruction, enhancing the Sapele-Benin Road for better traffic flow.
The Delta State Government has announced the award of a major contract. It is for the reconstruction of the dual carriageway with reinforced concrete. The construction will stretch from the Spare Parts Market U-turn, Effurun, to just before Omenta Bridge, along the Sapele-Benin Road.
The project was awarded through the State Tenders Board to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). It will feature an expanded pavement width of 8.8 meters, 2.8 meters reinforced concrete shoulders, and 12 kilometers of storm water concrete drains on both sides, including discharge points.
According to the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the reconstruction work is expected to be completed within 12 months. It will deliver a durable and modern road. This road will ease traffic congestion in the busy corridor. The road project is also set to complement the ongoing flyover constructions. These stretch from the DSC Roundabout to Ohore Junction. This work will enhance trade and improve daily commuting for residents.
In a related development, the Federal Ministry of Works has also awarded the rehabilitation of the Benin–Asaba Expressway. The section is from Summit Junction to the Niger Bridge Head. The project has been awarded to Hartland Nigeria Limited. Reinforced concrete will be used as the construction standard.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori reaffirmed his commitment to being a listening leader who responds to the genuine concerns of Deltans. He also emphasized that the administration’s focus remains on infrastructure that supports growth and prosperity across the Delta State.
“Together, we are building a Stronger Delta,” he assured.
