Master Wisdom is a Junior Secondary School 2 student. He emerged as the overall winner. He led Delta State’s debate delegation to the prestigious international competition. The young champion was accompanied on the courtesy visit to the Council Secretariat by the Principal of Government College, Mr. Obor Samson, alongside members of the school’s management team and fellow students.

Presenting the award-winning student, Mr. Obor described him as a beacon of excellence. He has brought immense pride to Government College, Ughelli. He has also brought pride to Delta State and Nigeria as a whole. “He is the team leader of Delta State’s delegation. We are proud to present him to you, sir. He has made us proud on the global stage,” he stated.

In his response, the visibly elated Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, congratulated Master Wisdom for his outstanding feat. He described him as a shining light. He is also an inspiration to other young people.

“This is a moment of celebration. The Bible teaches us to rejoice with those who rejoice, and today we honour excellence. It is not a mere coincidence that Government College Ughelli shares a boundary with the Council Secretariat. It is a divine alignment. We must continue to support and celebrate success stories like this,” Egbo remarked.

In recognition of the student’s exceptional performance, the Chairman announced an automatic scholarship for Master Wisdom. This scholarship will cover all educational expenses. It includes school fees, textbooks, and hostel accommodation throughout the remainder of his secondary education.

“This scholarship is a token of encouragement for you to remain focused and excel even further,” Egbo affirmed.

The Council Chairman further commended the teaching staff of Government College for their dedication to grooming future leaders. “Your work is not going unnoticed. Keep instilling knowledge and values into these children, our future depends on it,” he said.

Egbo also used the occasion to advise parents and guardians. He urged them to guide their children in the right direction. He also stressed dissuading them from indulging in societal vices.

“Education is not a scam. Discipline, hard work, and excellence must be promoted at home and in schools. Success is possible when children are taught to follow the right path,” he added.

The event concluded with a standing ovation for Master Wisdom. There was a ceremonial toast. The Chairman offered a special prayer for his continued success.
