The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State has noticed a recent statement by Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi.
Chief Ominimini falsely claimed that the ongoing E-registration exercise of newly defected members is invalid. He insisted that formal registration through the ward chairmen is necessary.
Delta APC condemns these reckless, baseless, and malicious statements in the strongest terms. Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi is propagating these statements concerning the ongoing E-registration. These statements are unfounded. They demonstrate a gross ignorance or blatant disregard for the Party Constitution. There is also a disregard for the official directives of the National leadership.
It is unfortunate. Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi would attempt to arrogate to himself the authority to interpret the provisions of the Party’s Constitution. He is neither an officer of the Party nor does he hold any official authority within the Party’s hierarchical structures. Incontrovertibly, Article 9 of the APC Constitution explicitly provides for the validity of online registration. This provision is clear and unambiguous. It aims at modernizing and facilitating the inclusive and transparent registration of Party members across all levels.
Regrettably, it is obvious. Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi did not acquaint himself with the contents of the provisions of Article 9. He made blatantly false narratives on the legality and legitimacy of the online registration by new members. Perhaps he deliberately chose to ignore the same for selfish political interests.
Fundamentally, it should be recalled that the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting convened on the 26th of February, 2025. It had unanimously approved the adoption of online registration. This method is a legitimate and binding mechanism for membership enrollment. This approval represents a landmark decision to embrace technology. It broadens participation. This decision renders obsolete the claims by Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi that the ongoing E-registration exercise is invalid or unauthorized.
Delta APC finds it utterly disgraceful. Chief Ominimini’s actions are shameful. He deliberately peddles falsehoods. These falsehoods are designed to sow confusion, panic, and division within the Delta APC. He claims the online registration of new members will result in a parallel executive of the Party. This claim is a deceitful fabrication. It has no basis in fact or reality.
To clarify, there is only one State Executive Committee. It is under the legitimate chairmanship of Elder Omeni Sobotie. This committee is duly recognized by the National Working Committee, led by the National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Any attempt to suggest otherwise is an act of gross misconduct. It is a political sabotage engineered by Chief Ominimini to destabilize the Party. This act hinders its growth.
Delta APC states unequivocally about the legitimacy of the E-registration exercise. It is further reinforced by the direct approval and support of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This legitimacy is also enhanced by collaboration with His Excellency Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the leader of the Party in Delta State. This endorsement from the highest offices of our Party and government underscores the authenticity. It highlights the paramount importance of the E-registration exercise. This initiative integrates newly defected members from the PDP and other political parties into our fold.
Delta State APC hereby calls on all Party members, both new and old, to stay calm. They should stay focused and united in the face of this orchestrated campaign of disinformation. We, thus, strongly urge all newly defected members to ignore these falsehoods and continue with their online registration exercise. The E-registration system carries the official imprimatur of the National leadership. It is a valid channel for membership registration. This is a critical time when the Party is seeking to grow its membership base across the nation.
Delta APC remains steadfast and unshaken in its resolve to build a unified, strong, and progressive Party. We urge the general public to ignore the utterances of Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi. His statements represent only himself. They show the desperate ambitions of those who fear the rising tide of the Party in Delta State. This change is occurring under the leadership of His Excellency Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
APC Renewed Hope For M.O.R.E. Agenda.
