Explore the protests in Los Angeles against Trump’s immigration actions and the impact on families and communities.
Thousands of people protested in the streets of Los Angeles. They were against the new immigration action by former President Donald Trump. He recently returned to the office.
The protest began. It was triggered by President Trump directing immigration officers to carry out numerous surprise raids across Los Angeles. The raids affected places like the neighborhoods, community centers, and where the people live and work.
In as mush as the protesters were angry. Their families are being separated. Close friends are being deported. Some immigrants are held in detention centers without trial. Many protesters believe Trump’s actions are harsh and unfair, and this has led to widespread discontent against Trump.
Instead of only using local police, President Trump ordered federal troops, including the National Guard and Marines. These are military personnel, who are usually used in wars, are now in used to control protests. This has not happened in decades, and it has caused a lot of concern among those protesting Trump.
However, they’ve been peaceful protests with people chanting and holding up banners saying “No Kings,” “We Belong,” “and stop the Raids.” Meanwhile, other areas saw clashes with law enforcement and some of the protesters were arrested for damaging property.
In this action, more than 400 people have been arrested, and Los Angeles has been under a nightly curfew from 8 pm to 6am.
