AGRICULTURAL QUARANTINE SERVICE RECRUITMENT: APPLICATION IS NOW OPEN

The Federal Government has started recruiting people for the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service and is now accepting applications from qualified Nigerians for positions at the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Assistant levels.

The recruitment drive started on 28 July 2026 and will end on 10 August 2026, after which the shortlisted candidates are expected to take part in computer-based tests and interviews later in August.

The Federal Character Commission on X stated on Wednesday that the applications are free and must be filled in online via the official recruitment portal.

How to apply

Interested applicants are required to:

• Go to the official recruitment portal
• Set up an account or log in to the portal.
Choose the cadre and position you prefer, and fill the online application form as requested with your correct details about your personal background and education.
• Upload all the credentials and supporting documents that are required.
• Check the application before you submit it online.

The agency cautioned that any applications sent in after the deadline, or those that do not adhere to the prescribed procedure, will not be considered.

Available positions

There are open positions in three categories.

Under the Superintendent Cadre, the agency is recruiting:

• Chief Superintendent of Quarantine Care (Veterinary Doctors)
• Deputy Superintendent of Quarantin• Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II

For the Inspectorate Cadre, applications are invited for:

• Inspector of Quarantine I
• Inspector of Quarantine II
• Inspector of Quarantine III

Under the Assistant Cadre, vacancies exist for:

• Quarantine Assistant I
• Quarantine Assistant II
• Quarantine Assistant III

Educational qualifications

To apply for the position of Chief Superintendent, the applicant must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree as well as an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

To apply for the position of Deputy Superintendent, candidates must have a degree in Law or a master’s degree in a related field, as well as an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Assistant Superintendent applicants must have at least a first degree from a recognised institution. They also need an NYSC discharge certificate.

To apply for the Inspectorate Cadre, one must have an Ordinary National Diploma or the Nigeria Certificate in Education; on the other hand, to apply for the Assistant Cadre, one must have SSCE, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.

General requirements

The agency said applicants must have a National Identification Number.
• You must be in good medical health and provide a certificate of fitness issued by a government hospital.
• Pass a drug test.
• Have good character and never have received a criminal conviction.

• Be computer literate.

Men applying must be at least 1.65 metres tall and have a chest measurement of 0.87 metres or more; women applicants must be 1.55 metres tall or above.

The agency also advised that applicants with certain physical deformities or medical conditions, including severe speech impairment, hearing impairment, total blindness, obesity and limb deformities, should not apply. According to the notice:

• Application opens: July 28, 2026
• Application closes: August 10, 2026
• Shortlisting of successful candidates: August 13, 2026
• The computer-based test and interviews took place on August 15, 2026.

The agency asked applicants to obtain all their information only through its official recruitment website and cautioned the general public against paying anybody for a job, emphasising that the process is entirely free.
