England captain Harry Kane has been named the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner. That’s the most prestigious individual award in football.
The Bayern Munich striker was the star of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday 26th October, following a superb year for both club and country.
Kane’s victory is a significant step in his career, a recognition of his performances for Bayern Munich and the England national team.
The England international has established himself as one of the world’s premier forwards, a player who can score goals at a regular rate and set up his teammates.
His win comes after a very tough race indeed with a number of the top names in the game including Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid and the Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal.
The Ballon d’Or (organised by France Football) is the award which goes to the best footballer of the year.
Kane’s victory adds another major accolade to a career in which he has become England’s all-time top scorer and one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.
