CAF officially confirmed the prize in monetary value. It is for teams that finished at the top of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Senegal emerged as the champion of the tournament. They defeated the host nation, Morocco, 1–0 in a tightly contested final. In a match that remained goalless after the official regulation and extra time.

Pape Gueye then scored a brilliant goal in the final minutes of extra time. This secured a victory for Senegal.

After the final match, CAF President Patrice Motsepe made an announcement. He stated that the winners of AFCON 2025 would receive a record $10 million in prize money.

This signifies a significant increase from the $7 million awarded to champions at during the 2023 edition of the competition. It reflects CAF’s commitment to improving the value of the tournament.

Morocco, which finished as runners-up after losing the final, was awarded $4 million. Nigeria, which secured third place, received $2.5 million, while Egypt, which finished fourth, earned $1.3 million.

The CAF president also confirmed payments to teams that exited the competition at earlier stages. Each quarter-finalist received $800,000. Teams that finished third in their group were paid $700,000.

The improved prize money highlights CAF’s efforts to reward strong performances and encourage higher competition standards across African football.
