Super Eagles Suspend AFCON Training Over Unpaid Match Bonuses

Super Eagles

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have reportedly suspended training at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. There are unresolved issues surrounding unpaid match bonuses. These bonuses are owed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

According to reports, win bonuses from Nigeria’s matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Mozambique remain outstanding. As a result, both players and members of the coaching staff have taken a united position. They insist they will not resume training or travel for upcoming fixtures until the payments are fully settled.

The situation has sparked tension within the team camp at a crucial stage of the tournament. While the Super Eagles remain focused on their AFCON objectives, the latest development has once again drawn attention to recurring financial and administrative challenges facing Nigerian football.

With preparations disrupted, concerns are growing over how the standoff could affect Nigeria’s momentum and overall performance as the competition progresses.
