Professor Okey Ikechukwu discusses the political dynamics surrounding Nyesom Wike and his controversial style in the APC.
Professor Okey Ikechukwu is a professor in Strategic Management and Human Capital Development. He has alleged that many political power brokers are privately dissatisfied with the conduct of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. They would resist his potential entry into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to the news men, Professor Ikechukwu noted that Wike’s aggressive political strategies have alienated influential figures.
Wike’s triumphalism will be perceived as offensive by many power brokers. If today he declares for APC, there will be some panic. Nonetheless, he will not be allowed to be on top because they see how he shouts down and dictates. while some will want to cut him to size. He said.
The professor argued that Wike’s political strength relies entirely on financial resources rather than genuine loyalty, making his position vulnerable. “Wike’s dependency today is 100% financial. So he no longer has the resources.
In terms of reach, they are poaching his people because he also got them by paying. So whoever is paying at the moment will pick quite a several of them,” he stated.
Professor Ikechukwu referenced Wike’s recent visit to a traditional ruler. During the visit, the minister warned against supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s second term.
He faulted Wike for threatening that Fubara’s return would finish him politically. He identified that the minister treats his audience like children.
The professor questioned the loyalty of Wike’s supporters. He stated that none would stay faithful beyond 24 hours. This would happen if the minister loses his financial capacity to keep them.
