The Northern Group praises President Tinubu’s swift action to rescue the Kebbi student abduction, showcasing commitment to safety and peace..
A Northern Group, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They praised him for his prompt intervention. He is involved in ongoing efforts to rescue the Kebbi students abduction from Government Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.
However, this was conveyed in a statement presented to news men on Friday in Sokoto, signed by its Chairman, Dr. Usman Aboki. The group however, praised Mr President’s directive. He asked the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, to immediately relocate to Kebbi. His task is to coordinate and supervise rescue operations.
The group believes the President acted swiftly. This action demonstrates genuine concern for the safety of the abducted students and their principal.
However, the organisation also cautioned political actors. It warned them against using the incident to score political points. Such conduct is described as insensitive and unhelpful to national cohesion.
“Unfortunately, some individuals have resorted to criticising the President. They do this simply because of political differences with the Federal Government. This criticism stems from his directive to the Minister of State for Defence,” Aboki said.
The visit was to commiserate with affected families. And he warned that such reactions do little to support national unity during crises.
Aboki also urges political leaders across the nation Nigeria to be measured in their statements on security-related issues. He emphasized that comments that undermine national efforts should be avoided. Such comments can also demoralize security agencies.
He also criticized a recent statement made by the PDP in Zamfara. It concerned the President’s deployment of the Minister of State for Defence to Kebbi. He described it as lacking in decorum. It was unhelpful at a time of national distress.
However, the group expresses its support for the Nigeria Government’s ongoing efforts. These efforts aim to ensure the safe return of the abducted students. They insisted that insecurity must never be turned into a tool for political confrontation.
The organization called for collective vigilance, responsible communication, and national solidarity in confronting insecurity. It urged Nigerians to stay united against threats aimed at destabilizing the country.
