PDP AND APC START UPLOADS OF GOV CANDIDATES ON INEC PORTAL

The PDP and the APC have started uploading their governorship and state House of Assembly candidates to the INEC portal for the 2027 general elections.

PDP National Organising Secretary Umar Bature said the party began the process on Saturday and promised to finish it before the August 8 deadline.

An APC official, who asked not to be named, said the party is uploading only candidates approved by its primary election appeal panel and confirmed by the National Working Committee. The party is focusing first on 16 current governors seeking re-election, including Umo Eno, Hyacinth Alia, Uba Sani, Abba Yusuf, Dikko Radda, Nasir Idris, Umaru Bago, Caleb Mutfwang, Ahmed Aliyu, Agbu Kefas, and Dauda Lawal.

The APC list also includes 12 first-time candidates, such as Obafemi Hamzat, Solomon Adeola, Kingsley Chinda, Eric Opah, Mohammed Abubakar, Mustapha Gubio, Jamilu Gwamna, Ahmed Wadada, and Baba Malam Wali.

INEC timetable shows that parties already submitted presidential and National Assembly candidates between June 27 and July 11, 2026. The uploading period for governorship and Assembly candidates is from July 18 to August 8, and their details will be published on August 29, 2026. Any withdrawals or substitutions must be done by September 19, 2026.

In total, parties are expected to upload 28 governorship candidates and 993 Assembly candidates nationwide. There will be no governorship elections in Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Ondo, and Osun due to their differing election schedules.
