President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has posted Reno Omokri as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico, assigning him to lead the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Mexico City.
The posting is part of the federal government’s deployment of 65 ambassadors-designate to various countries and international organisations around the world. Moreover, they seek to improve bilateral relations with key global partners.
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide and well-known political commentator, was among the non-career diplomatic nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate. His new role will involve promoting Nigeria’s economic interests. Furthermore, he will work to deepen trade cooperation and strengthen political and cultural ties between Nigeria and Mexico.
The ambassadorial deployment comes after months of diplomatic vacancies in several Nigerian missions abroad. The administration of President Tinubu says the move is part of broader efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy and expand opportunities for international investment and cooperation.
