Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has commissioned two key road projects in Oshimili South Local Government Area as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and boost connectivity across communities in the state.
The projects include the 4.8-kilometre Oko–Amakon/Oko–Obiokpu and adjoining roads (Phase 1), as well as the 1.8-kilometre Ameachi Agusi and adjoining roads located in Asaba.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Oborevwori described the projects as strategic investments designed to improve movement within the communities and enhance economic activities. He explained that the newly completed Oko Phase 1 road will significantly improve connectivity in the area while making it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets.
The governor also noted that the improved road network will support quicker emergency response to security situations and provide better access to the corridor leading to the Second Niger Bridge.
According to him, the Ameachi Agusi and adjoining roads project in Asaba reflects the state government’s ongoing urban renewal programme aimed at upgrading infrastructure within the capital city. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work delivered by the contractors handling the project.
Governor Oborevwori further revealed that the Oko Phase II road project has already been awarded and is expected to be completed within 24 months, noting that the state government remains committed to improving road infrastructure and driving development across Delta State.
