Nyesom Wike highlights the importance of strong relations between the executive and legislature for efficient budget processes.

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, has emphasized the need for cordial relations. He stresses the need for collaboration between the executive and the legislature. He believes these relations are critical. They ensure the speedy presentation and passage of budgets.

Wike has recalled that in his tenure as governor of Rivers State, he enjoyed a harmonious working relationship. This relationship was with the State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt Hon. Ikuinyi Ibani Owaji, a development he said facilitated prompt budget presentations and approvals.

Recall that the political hostilities and impeachment threats on Governor Siminalayi Fubara reportedly followed investigations. These investigations were into the alleged failure of the governor to present Appropriation Bills to the State House of Assembly. This occurred amid a lingering political crisis.

The minister spoke on Friday during a “thank you” visit to Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. He stressed the need for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections. He noted that cohesion among political actors would enable them to overcome emerging challenges.

Nyesom Wike has expressed that there was effectively and no single dominant political party in Rivers State. He also insisted that only a “rainbow coalition” and corporation would prevail ahead of 2027.
