Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announces plans to reconstruct ECN Road to improve urban mobility and economic activities.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has announced the plans by the Delta State government to reconstruct the ECN Road. This is part of sustained efforts to improve urban mobility. The aim is also to open up communities and stimulate economic activities across the state.
The Delta State Governor said the decision was made after persistent complaints by the Udu people. They were concerned about the deplorable condition of the road. Residents, commuters, and businesses operating along the corridor face daily hardships.
He has assured the Udu People that the project would meet the required standards. It will be delivered within a clearly defined timeline.
Governor Oborevwori has disclosed this on Friday at Orhuwhorun in Udu LGA. This was during the 50th and 19th memorial celebration of late Chief and Madam Palama Akporhierayen. They are the parents of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in the area, Sir Sheba Kris Palama.
The Governor explained that the ECN Road reconstruction aligns with the administration’s MORE Agenda. This agenda prioritises quality infrastructure as a catalyst for security. It also enhances commerce and improves the quality of life for the people.
The governor also highlighted recent achievements of his administration. He noted that the Udu Harbour Market was first awarded about 18 years ago. This market would soon be inaugurated.
Oborevwori urged political office holders and community leaders to embrace servant leadership. He stressed that no leader is above the people they serve. Leadership must be anchored on humility. It should also be based on accountability and loyalty to the electorate.
“There is no local government where I don’t have leaders. You can’t say because you are a governor that you are all in all. No. You must be loyal to your people because we are only serving them,” the governor said.
Speaking on legacy, Oborevwori commended Sir Sheba Palama for honouring his parents through the memorial celebration. He described the gesture as a noble act that preserves family values. It also preserves legacy.
“When you have children who remember you, your legacy lives on. Today, we remember Esther Palama and Chief Palama. As you have remembered your parents, your children and grandchildren will also remember you,” he said.
The governor emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Udu. He noted that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort. Cooperation is key to this achievement.
“Development can only happen when there is unity. I will do my best to do whatever the Udu people want, but unity is key,” he emphasized.
He thanked traditional rulers, community leaders, and others for the warm reception given to him. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. He also pledged to focus on grassroots development across Delta State.
