Logan Paul’s legendary Pokémon card auction makes history. Learn how this single card sold for over $16 million to set a new global record.
An extremely rare Pokémon card owned by American YouTuber Logan Paul sold Monday for $16,492,000, smashing the record for the most expensive “Pocket Monster” trading card ever sold at auction.
The unique PSA 10-graded Pikachu Illustrator was originally acquired by Paul in a record-breaking 2021 private sale for $5.28 million. This time, the winning bid came from AJ Scaramucci, son of former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, according to Guinness World Records, who verified the sale at the Goldin auction house.
After the hammer fell, Paul placed the card—housed in a protective case attached to a $75,000 diamond necklace—around Scaramucci’s neck. Guinness has officially certified it as the most expensive Pokémon card and the priciest trading card of any kind sold at auction.
