During the mid-year thanksgiving service at Church of the Anointing, Pastor Samuel Ijomone spoke about how sacrificial thanksgiving can change believers’ lives for the better.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, members of The Church of the Anointing in Udu came together for their mid-year thanksgiving service.
The service began with worship songs, as everyone joined in singing and expressing their gratitude to God. Afterwards, there were prayers and a Bible reading from Luke 17:14.
Pastor Samuel Ijomone gave a sermon called “The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving,” using Psalm 103:1 as his main text. He encouraged everyone to remain thankful even when life is hard and cautioned against dwelling on the negative.
“It is very easy to choose not to thank God. Many times, the flesh and the enemy push us to see only the negative,” he said.
Pastor Ijomone explained that real thanksgiving involves sacrifice, saying that gratitude means more when it costs us something. He encouraged everyone to notice and appreciate even the smallest blessings:
“The little benefits and the little good that you see, don’t forget them, don’t count them down, and don’t refuse to acknowledge them,” he advised.
He also pointed out two important parts of thanksgiving:
- The sacrifice of remembrance
- The sacrifice of giving
He said that giving can show up in different ways, like saying thank you, singing songs of praise, or giving to others.
At the end of his message, Pastor Samuel Ijomone told members that living with true gratitude brings God’s power and that signs and wonders will follow those with a thankful heart.
