THE BROKEN BRIDGE: A JOURNEY OF REFLECTION

the broken bridge

Explore Tola’s journey at the broken bridge, where she finds peace amid uncertainty and discovers strength in stillness.

Tola stood at the edge of the old wooden bridge, looking at the gap where the planks were missing. The river below rushed by, carrying driftwood and foam. She had planned this trip for weeks, hoping for a quiet walk to clear her mind, but now the path was broken.

Feeling frustrated, she sat on a nearby rock. “Why now?” she whispered. Everything in her life felt like this bridge: unstable and uncertain. Work was stressful, her plans kept falling apart, and she couldn’t see how things would work out.

A gentle breeze brushed her face. The river’s roar softened. She noticed a small wooden sign nailed to a tree beside her: “Be still and know that I am God.”

Tola smiled a little. She realised she didn’t have to fix the bridge on her own. She could trust the One who made the river, the trees, and the path. The broken bridge was not the end; it reminded her that God was still in control, even when things seemed uncertain.

She stood up, took a deep breath, and started walking back home. The path behind her felt lighter, as if hope was waiting just ahead. The bridge could wait. She carried a new sense of peace, trusting that in time, every gap would be filled.
