Tompolo

Tompolo urges calm as Warri ward protests spread to oil facilities, calling for dialogue and restraint while pressing INEC to resolve the dispute peacefully.

Tompolo has called for calm as protests over ward delineation spread to oil and gas facilities.

Since June 8, 2026, women and young people from various communities have occupied facilities in a large protest. They are deeply dissatisfied with how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) handled the delineation process, which has heightened tensions in the region.

In a statement on Tuesday, Tompolo urged protesters and stakeholders to choose dialogue and avoid violence before things get worse. He said, “The Ijaw nation has always been known for peace. We must act now before this situation is hijacked or escalates into violence.”

Tompolo, who now leads Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, called for an urgent meeting of community leaders to prevent the situation from worsening. He also urged INEC to act quickly to rebuild trust in the affected communities.

Tompolo also asked Itsekiri and Urhobo residents to be patient. He said, “We call on the people of Warri, whether Ijaw, Itsekiri, or Urhobo, to stay calm, refrain from further protests, and wait for INEC to address community concerns through open dialogue.”

The protesThe protests have raised serious concerns across Delta State. Disruptions at oil and gas facilities now threaten the economy and security. Stakeholders warn that only urgent, honest dialogue can prevent a larger crisis. Intervention is seen as critical to urgent efforts by community leaders and regional stakeholders to swiftly de-escalate surging tensions and prevent chaos from engulfing Warri and its environs.
